Two very flattering features were written about my paintings this spring, and I created a new Press page to share them with you online. Many thanks to Bob Eckert at the Rio Grande Sun, and to Dena Miller at Taos Magazine for such thoughtfully written articles.

In other news, I’ve finally gotten together with my friend Christen Hupfer Vogel on an idea I’ve had for embellishing the cradled clayboard I’m now painting on. Among her many talents, Christen is an amazing metal artist and she helped me figure out a way to “wrap” the cradles in copper. She came up with this very cool look – thanks Christen!!

Chimayò Spring

We’re having a typical Northern New Mexico spring day today – lots of blustery wind, with threatening clouds over the mountains. Spring is the most changeable of seasons here: apple trees are in full bloom, with the danger of an overnight freeze. This delicate apple tree sits in the midst of a large marshy field just across the road from Rancho de Chimayò, and I see it often when I’m driving down to Santa Fe. To me it expresses both the promise and the fragility of spring in these mountains.

There will be some new paintings in my ongoing series on trees and the waters that nourish them. We’ll have some human nourishment on hand as well – I look forward to seeing you there!

My “meet the artist” reception, which was originally scheduled for Earth Day afternoon at Copper Moon Gallery in Taos, has been rescheduled to Saturday, May 5 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. I’ll have a few new pieces to add to my ongoing body of work on trees and water. Hope to see you there!
